Chenda
Chenda, 45, is originally from Battambang province and is also a mother of five children. Nowadays, she needs to support only three kids who are still in school. The main sources of her family’s income are from her occupation as a school teacher and her businesses of rice cropping and chicken raising. Those are the businesses that she has had for ages.

Chenda is a new borrower with VisionFund (Kiva's partner). She decided to take the first loan in order to cover the tuition fee for her son, who is pursing a bachelor degree, majoring in medical science. Additionally, she will spend some portion of her loan to buy school materials for her son. She hopes that this financial support will fulfill her son's dream of getting a job in the medical field.

About VisionFund Cambodia

VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.

Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
