A 35-year-old married mother of three children, Yin resides in a rural village of the Kampong Cham province’s Dambae district, Cambodia. To support her living, she has been growing cassava and working for others for a fee for 15 years. Together, they can earn about KHR 22,000 per day from the current business and can save about KHR 12,000 each day for their future needs.
This is the third loan for Yin with Kiva’s partner, VisionFund. Yin completely paid back the past loan. Now she is applying for a loan. Yin is going to use her portion to buy fertilizers and seeds for her farmland. She hopes to increase her family’s business and gain more income to build on some savings to increase her family’s business.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
