Saumnea
Saumnea, 43, is from a rural village in the Ou Chrov district of Banteay Meanchey province. She is married and blessed with four children, one of whom still relies on her and is in school. To struggle for a living, she runs a small garage to fix cars as her main source of income. It is the business that she has been with for four years.

Besides the business that she needs to focus on, she wants to pay attention in her son’s studies as well. Therefore, she has applied for an education loan as a first time borrower from VisionFund (Kiva’s partner) to cover tuition fees as well as to buy school materials for her son who wants to pursue a bachelor's degree, majoring in Information Technology. She hopes that her son can get a good job after graduation.

It is disbursed to the borrower in annual installments.

About VisionFund Cambodia

VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.

Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
