Merina
Merina lives in the remote village Baroghoria in Dhupguri in the district Jalpaiguri. She is only 25 years old and is a housewife. She is blessed with 2 children, who are school- going and are in grade 5 and grade 2. They live in their own kachha house (made of mud, bamboo and straw). She is married to Ashad who is 28 years old. Both of them have no elementary education, but they try their hardest to give their children proper education.

Merina's husband is associated with agribusiness. It is the main source of income for the family. The income from the business is so scanty that they can hardly cover the family expenses. So, it has become impossible to afford their children's educational cost.

Merina is requesting the loan from BJS for her daughter Chumki. Chumki is a bright and intelligent girl who studies seriously to score good marks in examinations but she needs someone's help in her study so that she can get better result. She wants to be a teacher in the future. Merina and her husband are unable to give her a private tutor. Merina plans to utilize the loan to purchase educational materials such as pens, pencils, books, note books, uniforms etc. and engage a private tutor for her daughter's smooth education so that she will be able to reach her goal.

Merina and her daughter (in the picture) are very much thankful to BJS and Kiva.
