Marlene Karina

She has a small amount of money saved up because this has been her dream for a long time, and bit by bit she has been able to scrape together this money. But it is not enough to buy the necessary machines for the shop. A loan has helped Marlene start up her new business. She is very happy and feels very grateful to Fundacion Alternativa and Kiva because many other institutions didn't believe in her dream and closed their doors to her. Now, with the Fundacion, her dream is a reality and she was able to buy three machines and has already begun to make her first pieces of clothing. This will allow her to grow professionally and raise her family.

Marlene es una señora de 28 años, tiene una niña de 5 años, juntas viven en casa arrendada en la ciudad de Santo Domingo, una zona con un clima agradable y muy comercial.
Marlene es una señora muy trabajadora, desde hace 10 años se ha dedicado a la costura y ha prestado sus servicios a una empresa donde confeccionan camisas. Ahora Marlene quiere ponerse su propio taller, es por ello que acudió a Fundación Alternativa ya que por falta de capital no ha podido comprarse las máquinas; ella cuenta con unos pequeños ahorros porque este ha sido su sueño hace mucho tiempo y poco a poco ha podido reunir ese dinero, pero aun así no es suficiente para comprar las máquinas necesaria para el taller.
A Marlene se le pudo ayudar con un crédito para emprender en su nuevo negocio. Está muy feliz y se siente muy agradecida con Fundación Alternativa y el proyecto Kiva ya que muchas instituciones no querían creer en su sueño y le cerraban las puertas. Con la Fundación ahora su sueño es una realidad pudo comprar sus tres máquinas y ya empezó a confeccionar las primeras prendas. Con esto ella podrá crecer profesionalmente y sacar adelante a su familia.

As part of the loan package, Fundacion Alternativa provides clients with training sessions, guidance to develop their business plan, access to a customized credit facility and monitoring sessions during the first three months of their venture following the loan disbursement.
