Srong, 23, lives in a rural area of the Dambae district of Kampong Cham province and she is married with three children. The family’s main sources of income are farming rice and growing cassava. To add more income, she works as a paid worker. She can earn about $12 per day to meet the family’s need.
Srong has been with VisionFund for one cycle and completely paid back the past loan. Now she is applying for a loan. She will use her loan to pay for plowing the field and use a portion of it to spend on labor fees. She hopes to get more crops from her agribusiness so as to fulfill her dream of having a decent house to live in.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
