Thim is aged 41 years old and married. She is a mother of five children. To make a living, she and her husband have been farming rice for twenty-three years and supplement their family’s income by working for others for a fee. She can earn about 40,000 KHR per day to support the family.
Thim has been with VisionFund for one cycle and completely paid back the past loan. Now she is applying for a loan. She is going to use her portion to pay the land fee to grow rice. She hopes this loan will enable her to earn more income from her current business so as to make a better living.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
