In this Group: Reeta, Rajjo, Shaheen, Shaziya, Rubina
Reeta, aged 40, is a responsible mother, and living in the area of Lahore, Pakistan. This is her fifth loan with BRAC. She is an old member, and she is taking this loan according to the needs of her family. She belongs to a poor family, and it is very difficult for her to fulfill all the household expenses with poor earnings. In fact, her husband is a hawker by profession, and sells different kinds of hair oils using his bicycle. He sells avocado oil, castor oil, coconut oil, olive oil, rosemary oil, safflower oil etc. He calls loudly to the consumers and is famous for offering all these hair oils to protect hair from falling out. He wants to buy a large quantity of hair oil to sell to expand his business, and to overcome the poverty. Therefore, Reeta requested a loan for her husband, so that he can buy more quantities of hair oils. Reeta is very impressed with this honorable support. She thanks Kiva and field partner, BRAC Pakistan.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
