Ghatagaon Tarini Asd Group
This is the first loan for Laxmi with Kiva’s partner, People's Forum. Now she is leading her group to ask for a loan. As the leader, she is going to use her portion to purchase fertilizers and seeds and pay for harvesting fees. She hopes to have more crop yields and sell the crops at a good price, so as to improve her lifestyle.
All the members of this "Ghatagaon Tarini ASD" self-help group are from the same village, and all the group members are engaged in different business activities like milk selling, animal rearing, etc. All are very happy and grateful for this support.
More information about this loan
This loan is designed for single mothers, widows and unmarried women, who are often excluded from Self-Help Groups in India. Many of these women, usually with families to support, do not have access to microfinance and often work as casual labor or domestic help. Self Help Groups are hesitant to accept them due to the social stigma attached to their status and very few microfinance organizations offer loans to individuals. By supporting this loan, you are enabling a poor woman in India to establish or grow her business.
Important note about this loanDue to Indian government regulations, if you fund this loan, you will not be repaid for at least 3 years. This borrower will likely repay your loan much sooner than that, in which case, the Field Partner may re-loan your funds to help other local borrowers. We want you to be aware of this minimum 3-year waiting period and the associated risks before making a loan to Indian borrowers on Kiva. Learn More >
