Shakeela's Group
In this Group: Shakeela, Saima, Shahida
Shakeela is a 43-year-old lady, and a mother of four daughters and a son. She lives in Lahore, Pakistan. Her husband provides a facility for tailoring services; he operates his business from the local market.

Her husband has to purchase some clothes in bulk for sewing dresses. But due to insufficient financial means, he is unable to purchase the clothes in bulk. Therefore Shakeela requested a Kiva group loan with three members, from its field partner BRAC Pakistan.

With the help of this loan, she'll provide financial assistance to her husband by purchasing clothes for sewing garments for his business. This will also prove good for making savings for her entire family's needs.

She is very grateful to Kiva and BRAC Pakistan.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
