Ana Elizabeth
Doña Ana Elizabeth is a very entrepreneurial woman with hopes of reaching past 41 years of age, the years of which she has partly shared a home with her companion and her only daughter (three and a half years old) of whom they are grateful to God for and consider a blessing. Doña Ana Elizabeth learned the business and craft of agriculture since she was very young, when she often helped her father on the land he cultivated. Today she carries more than 25 years of experience in the trade. A portion of her crops are located within her own community, which they get to on foot, and the other portion is 38 kilometers away, which they get to by bus or by car, which is one of their biggest challenges. Doña Ana Elizabeth has a primarily level of education, up to the third grade level, since the economic situation in her home was not the best for her youth but she learned to work hard in order to educate her only daughter and to give her the very best. She dreams of seeing a better future for her daughter, with better opportunities, and better living conditions so that she can support her family in any capacity and excel. Today she is requesting funding from the cooperative COMIXMUL with which she will improve her coffee crops through the use of new inputs such as fertilizer, coffee formula, and fungicides that will prevent the contamination from bugs and diseases .

More information about this loan

These loans are designed for female farmers who produce a variety of products (onion, garlic, eggplant, spinach, mango, strawberries, etc.). Loan terms will vary depending on need, and borrowers can choose to make a "bullet" payment timed with harvest profits. Agricultural loans are considered risky in Honduras due to external forces like unpredictable weather and worldwide crop prices. As a result, many traditional financial institutions are unwilling to offer these loans. With Kiva funding, COMIXMUL will be able to reach more borrowers with agricultural loans tailored to their needs.
