Patrick
Patrick is a coffee farmer in Rwamarembo where he has been since 2010. He is a hard-working man who works four days on the farm and eight hours per day worked on the farm. He started farming with an aim of earning income to cater for his personal needs and the needs of his family. In addition to farming, Patrick has a butchery at a local trading centre in Kyamuhunga Bushenyi which boosts his income greatly. His clients are mostly people from Bushenyi and he believes these have really supported him greatly.

Patrick plans to use the loan money of 2,000,000 UGX to buy more cows which he will slaughter and sell in kilograms of meat thereby earning a profit. Unfavourable weather is his major challenge but he believes it will cease to be if he gets a loan, makes a profit, and buys mulch for the coffee plantation.

More information about this loan

This loan is part of UGAFODE's program for clients who live in isolated rural areas with limited access to financial services. Uniquely, UGAFODE focuses its efforts on agricultural areas in Uganda that are over 50 km from their branches, providing loans to both groups and individual borrowers. The organization believes that the risk of offering services to remote clients is outweighed by the benefits to customers and their often underserved communities.
