Tranquilina is 56 years old and lives in Migacanaway, Tangub City. She is married and has three children.
Tranquilina owns and operates a sari-sari (variety) store and earns approximately 10,000 PHP each month doing this work. She has requested a loan to purchase a parcel of land for farming. She wants to cultivate land to have another source of income in addition to her sari-sari store.
Tranquilina has been a member of PMPC since 2010 and has taken previous loans which she repaid in a timely fashion. In the future, Tranquilina hopes to improve her livelihood in order to provide more services for her clients.
About Paglaum Multi-Purpose Cooperative
Paglaum Multi-Purpose Cooperative (PMPC) was founded in 1992 by the beneficiaries, parents and staff of the Paglaum Community Development Foundation to address economic and livelihood activities for sustainability. The organization operates in the northwestern provinces of Mindanao and Visayas.
In the local vernacular, “paglaum” means “hope.” The initial foundation is dedicated to child development through a holistic approach. The goal is to build self-reliance and expand opportunity so the poorest of the poor can help themselves.
