Ms. G. H. is a 40-year-old married mother of a 13-year-old son, who is in 6th grade. Her spouse is currently unemployed, so he is running a small general store in their home that he and his wife own. Meanwhile, she works as a fruit and vegetable street vendor. She is requesting this loan with the aim of strengthening their general store business so that they can improve their financial status and she can stop working as a street vendor, which she has been doing for eight years. With this job, she has been able to both provide an education for her son and support her family.

H., tiene 40 años de edad, es casada, es madre de un hijo el cual tiene 13 años de edad el cual cursa el sexto grado de primaria, su conyugue esta sin empleo atendiendo una pequeña pulperia, que tiene en conjunto con su esposa en su casa de habitacion, mientras la señora se desempeña como comerciante de frutas y verduras de forma ambulante, teniendo como proposito con los creditos poder fortalecer su negocio de pulperia a fin de poder mejorar sus condiciones economicas y dejar de vender de forma ambulante frutas y verduras, la cual tiene ocho años de desempeñar, actividad con la cual ha dado continuidad a los estudios de su hijo y de igual manera a llevado el sustento familiar.

Fundación Leon 2000 began operations in 1993 as the first microfinance institution to serve the western part of Nicaragua, a country which continues to be one of the poorest in the western hemisphere. Fundación Leon 2000 works to further the development of micro, small, and medium enterprises through credit services and management, applying the best credit industry practices and technical expertise. Additionally, Fundación Leon manages several business and financial education programs in the community, specifically for young entrepreneurs and at-risk youth. Fundación Leon 2000’s group of experienced and dedicated employees works in 7 offices in Leon, Chinandega, Chichigalpa, Somotillo, Jinotepe, El Sauce, and Nagarote and serves several thousand clients (the majority of whom are women).
