These members are part of one of the tradition groups in the Teshie branch, called 'universal'. They are on their sixth cycle with ID-Ghana. The group is composed of six members. The businesses that the members of this group are involved in does vary. They include selling clothing, selling fish, selling fruit, selling food, chicken wings and silver products.

The loan they are requesting will be useful to a small micro entrepreneur like Comfort L. She has been working with D-Ghana for six loan cycles, entering on the invitation of her friend who is also a member of the institution. Today, she has a business selling chicken wings and fish.
The loan will bring an increase of working capital that she will use towards expanding her business. She will buy more fish and chicken wings from the cold store and sell these products to her customers. This business allows her to generate resources in order to maintain her home for her husband and three children.

About ID Ghana

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
