Originally from a rural village of the Ponhea Krek district of Kampong Cham province, Seanghai is a 31-year-old married mother of three children. Rice farming and cassava growing have been the main sources of her family’s income for ten years to support the family.
Seanghai is on her second loan with VisionFund. The first loan has helped Seanghai better support her family members. She is now asking for another loan. She will use her portion to buy seeds and pay for labour fees. With this loan, she hopes to grow her rice and cassava fruitfully and healthily and also hopes to make more income to improve her standard of living.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
