Saream, 50, is a local villager from the Phonhea Krek district of Kampong Cham province. She is a mother of one dependent son who is in school. To feed her family, she grows rubber trees as her main source of income, and does rice farming to earn additional income. She has been in this business for 18 years and it has helped her family. Now, she is seeking her first loan with Kiva partner VisionFund in the amount of 4,000,000 KHR to buy an additional plot of farmland so she can expand her agribusiness. She hopes to expand her farmland on a bigger scale so that she can triple her income.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
