Virak is 28 years old and a resident of Samraong Tong district, Kampong Speu province. He is married with two school-going children. Virak owns and operates a repair shop in this region to earn a living. He has been serving the village for many years, providing repairs and vehicle maintenance and he earns well for the family. He is happy and thankful because his wife helps him earn enough income to meet their daily needs.
To improve his services, he is taking out a loan in the sum of USD 1,500 to buy motor spare parts and vehicle fuel to be used for repair and maintenance services. In the future, Virak wants to save money to expand his business and improve the general living situation of his family.
Hattha Kaksekar Limited is one of the largest and most successful microfinance institutions (MFIs) in Cambodia. The organization provides microfinance services to the poor, particularly women, in urban and rural areas. Kiva lenders’ funds will be used to expand the outreach of HKL’s financial services to a greater number of clients in rural areas of Cambodia.
