Geraldine is married and the mother of one child who earns a living by buying and selling cosmetics to people in her village. She collects cash and installment-plan payments from her customers. She uses her motorcycle to do this, and recently took out a loan from GDMPC microcredit to buy more cosmetic products to sell. She will also use a portion of this loan for vehicle repairs and maintenance. She hopes someday to have a stall in the local market where she can do her business.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
