Her source of income is coffee which she has worked at all her life since her parents taught her to work the land at a very young age. Her fields are located 400 meters from her house and she walks there every day to maintain and help her crops. She also generates income for the household by selling tamales on the week-ends her clients being acquaintances, friends and neighbors. She also sells them at the football field on Sundays where she can make more money.
Her plans for the future are to become more technical with her coffee growing, planting a better diversity of product which will help at selling time as it will generate more income and attract more buyers for her product. As the mother of a family she supports her children in their studies so that they are well prepared academically so as to have better opportunities to integrate into society and support their families.
Susana is requesting a loan from the COMIXMUL co-operative to buy agricultural inputs that help protect and nurture her crops, preventing the spoiling of them by the fungus "la Roya" (coffee rust) for example.
