Zivko
Zivko is a 63-year-old father of two sons, ages 15 to 17 years old. He lives together with his family in one of the minority communities of Kosovo, which has suffered devastating effects on the economy from the war.

As a result, many people who live there are unemployed or are engaged in some type of agricultural business in order to make a living. Zivko is among those that own some land on which he has been planting corn and wheat to sell at a profit for many years now. He is also able to make some money by working on the fields and lands of others, which adds to their income and demonstrates how hard he has had to work in order to improve his family’s living conditions.

He is also fortunate that his wife works in a high school doing administrative work and they consider themselves very lucky to be in such a positive situation. At this time, Zivko is in need of a loan in order to purchase some tools and equipment for his tractor so that he can continue to plow and harvest the crops and fields. He hopes to have a brighter future for his family and to give his children a better education. He promises to pay the loan on time and in full.

More information about this loan

This loan will support the economic aspirations of minority people in Kosovo. Roma people and ethnic Serbians have historically faced a tremendous amount of hardship in Kosovo, and are still socioeconomically and politically vulnerable. During the 1998-1999 war, the fighting displaced 250,000 people. Among those displaced were an estimated 80-90% of the region’s Roma population. Today, Roma and ethnic Serbians living in Kosovo still face discrimination and are excluded from many aspects of society, including fair political representation and high rates of unemployment. By supporting this loan you are helping provide opportunity to marginalized populations.
