With her first loan she bought 60lb of t-shirt fabric, from which she made 1120 garments. She sold these at a very good price and managed to make 50% more profit than she had expected.
Because of this Bella was able to pay off her loan much earlier than planned and now she is approaching COMIXMUL again to ask for a second loan. She will use this to buy 51lb of white t-shirt fabric so she can make 1020 garments and 780 yards of gaberdine for trousers which will give her 580 pairs of trousers. This will enable her to satisfy the unmet demand at this time of the school year. She hopes to be helped again by the Kiva lenders.
More information about this loan
These loans are designed for young Honduran women between ages 16 and 29 who want to start their own businesses to launch their careers. COMIXMUL offers training sessions through its sister organization FUDEIMFA that will culminate in clients writing their own business plans and receiving their first loans. The main difference between this product and other COMIXMUL loans is that the institution normally requires the client to already have an established business in order to be eligible for a loan. However, COMIXMUL is waiving this requirement for young women who attend the training sessions.
