Arquimides Antonio
Arquímedes is a young man, age 23, who has his high school diploma. He is single, and lives with his father, his mother, and two brothers.

He has worked as a salesman in a store in the city for 4 years. He learned this work on his own-- he decided to look for a job upon finishing school because he needed employment, and he was given the opportunity to work in this store. His job is about 45 minutes from his house, and he takes the bus to work. His schedule at the store is from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.

He is seeking a loan in order to purchase a motorcycle to get from his job to his home because the bus that he takes is no longer running when he leaves work, and he has to travel in other cars that go to the neighborhood where his house is located. They drop him off on a crossroad, and then he has to walk; but he is afraid to travel this way because of the crime.

This is why he wants to buy a motorcycle--having his own transportation, he will leave work later, and thus he will be able to make more commissions.

One of his dreams is to study and prepare himself so that in the future he can have his own store. This is helping him to be knowledgeable about the products--when he has his own business, the more he knows, the more he will sell.

He will make a great effort to achieve this, so that he will be able to help his parents. They worked very hard to give him an education, and he wants to repay their efforts.

More information about this loan

This loan is part of a project to help young men and women in El Salvador (under age 26) launch their own businesses. The field partner is reducing the guarantee for these individuals, who normally would not have access to loans due to their lack of experience. Unemployment for young people is high in El Salvador, a fact that motivates many of them to leave the country instead of searching for work. Aside from access to financing, clients will also be grouped together according to their business types to receive training from CrediCampo's social development unit, and to share advice and support with one another.
