Libertador Group

Marco Antonio, Nelly, Doris Rossio, Julia, Delia, Liseth, Georgina Julia, Maria Luisa, Paola Esther, Irene, Hugo Leo, Jose Maria

The Libertador group is made up of nine women and three men who live in the Cerro San Miguel zone of Cochabamba in central Bolivia. Though they are all involved in a variety of different economic activities, the group members share the desire to get ahead, both financially and personally, and hope that this loan will help them increase their income.

Most of them are vendors who work on the street, in markets or door to door. Nelly and Doris sell cosmetics; Maria Luisa, Georgina, and Delia sell clothing; Liseth sells cell phones; Hugo has a printing business; Paola and Jose Maria sell and burn CDs; Julia sells prepared meals; Irene sells sweets; and Marco rents out sound systems. All have between two and ten years of experience in their respective businesses.

Most of the group members plan to use their Kiva loans to buy more merchandise to sell (foodstuffs, school supplies, etc.). This is the group's second loan cycle with AgroCapital.



About Group Loans
In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a group of individuals bound by a group guarantee. Under this arrangement, each member of the group supports one another and is responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members if someone is delinquent or defaults. Learn more
