The Communal Bank "Mujeres Unidas" (United Women) meets every 15 days in the neighborhood of Abdón Calderón in the city of Manta. This city is well-known for its beautiful beaches that are frequented throughout the year. It is also a city that is unequaled in its beauty and has many tourists attractions.

Sra. Marcela lives in this place. She is 37 years old, married, and has two children (ages 10 and 7) who are in school. Her husband is a master welder and works at a boat repair shop.

In order to have her own income and to pay for her children's education, Doña Marcela sells clothing through catalogs and Avon products (beauty products, cosmetics, perfumes, and women's accessories). She sells by going door to door. Marcela offers her products on credit and then collects payments weekly or every 15 days. She will also give part of her loan to her husband so that he can buy materials for his work. He does welding on different boats that come to the dock in need of repairs so that they can return to their fishing jobs. Through these activities, Marcela and her husband are able to get ahead.

This loan will be used to buy clothing, Avon products, as well as soldering supplies and paints for her husband's work. Marcela has been with her Communal Bank from the beginning and she enjoys being a member because of the assistance she has received with the loans. Her dream is to have a successful bazaar.

El Grupo De Crédito Mujeres Unidas se reúne cada 15 días en el barrio Abdón Calderón en la ciudad de Manta, ciudad conocida por sus hermosas playas que son muy visitadas en toda época del año y por ser una ciudad con una belleza sin igual con muchos atractivos turísticos.
En este lugar vive la señora Marcela, tiene 37 años de edad, está casada y de esta relación tienen dos hijos de 10 y 7 años que estudian en escuela. Su esposo es maestro soldador y trabaja en la reparación de barcos.
Doña Marcela con la finalidad de contar con sus propios ingresos y con estos pagar los estudios de sus hijos se dedica a la venta de ropa por catálogos y productos de Avon (artículos de belleza, cosméticos perfumería y accesorios para damas). Su forma de venta es puerta a puerta, ella deja sus productos a crédito y cobra por semana o quincenas. También parte del crédito se lo da al marido para que compre materiales que el utiliza en su trabajo, el realiza arreglos de soldadura en varios barcos que llegan al muelle y que necesitan de reparaciones para continuar con sus faenas de pesca. Con estas actividades es como ellos salen adelante.
Este crédito lo va a emplear en comprar ropa, productos Avon, soldaduras y pinturas para el trabajo de su marido. Está desde el inicio en el Grupo De Crédito y le gusta por la ayuda que reciben con los créditos. Su sueño es tener un buen bazar.
