Tim S., 47, is married and lives with five of her seven children in Kampong Cham Province, Cambodia. She is a rice farmer but her farm is just to support the family members from day to day . Her husband has been a bean farmer since he married with his wife. On average, he typically makes US$1.70 in profits per day. Two children are students and three others are garment factory workers. She told a loan officer that she on average spends on food US$40 every month, US$10 on children's education, US$15 on transportation. To double the family's income she has requested a loan of US$500 to purchase a horse and cart to transport goods for profit.
