Luz is a dynamic and charismatic woman. She is 36 years old and has four children that she provides for through a lot of effort and dedication. When she found herself pregnant with her first child, she made the decision to work in order to earn her own income and help her husband with household expenses. She started a daycare where she looks after children from the ICBF [Colombian Institute for Family Welfare] and this has allowed her to earn a living without neglecting her family. She has generated a decent income during the 18 years she has run this business.
Luz plans to use the loan to carry out some renovations to ensure the continued well-being of the children in her care. She states that besides the fact that this work generates income to support her family, she likes it due to its benefit to society; she is involved in the lives of the children that she cares for, providing them with love and attention that they sometimes don't receive in their own homes. This fills her with life and allows her to continue pushing ahead tirelessly and providing her children with a better quality of life, as well as instilling values in them so that they will be good people.
Luz es una mujer pujante y carismática, a sus 36 años de edad es madre de 4 hijos a los que ha sacado adelante con mucho esfuerzo y dedicación. Cuando quedó en embarazo de su primer hijo tomó la decisión de trabajar para adquirir ingresos por cuenta propia y ayudar a su esposo con la carga económica del hogar, por ello inició una guardería en la que cuida los niños del ICBF y así ha logrado ganarse la vida sin descuidar a su familia y ha generado ingresos suficientes durante los 18 años que lleva en funcionamiento el establecimiento.

This loan is structured on Kiva as a bullet loan, which means a single payment is required at the end of the loan term. By Colombian law, Kiva's partner Interactuar is required to offer borrowers loans with a variable interest rate that fluctuates with the market rate. Because fixed monthly payments are applied first to interest and then to principal, Interactuar is unable to predict upfront what portion of each repayment would go towards the loan principal. This creates a challenge with Kiva's system, which doesn't allow for unpredictable principal payments, and can result in some Interactuar clients appearing falsely delinquent. To remedy this, the loan has an end-of-term repayment plan on Kiva, but the borrower will continue scheduled monthly repayments to Interactuar, who will then pass along the principal amount to Kiva lenders. This means that you may see repayments made on this loan throughout the repayment term, as opposed to receiving repayment in full at the end of the loan term.
