Khum Y., 57, is married and lives with one of her daughters in Kampong Cham, Cambodia. She and her husband work growing rice to earn a living and are able to make around US$1 each day. The weather conditions have been difficult in Cambodia this past year and inflation has also been out of control. These factors have played into a difficult economic year for many Cambodians, Khum Y. included. She is requesting a loan from Kiva via Credit, local partner, to purchase a water pump to irrigate her rice field in case she has difficulty with the water supply.
KREDIT Ltd. is one of Kiva’s most established partners in Southeast Asia. The organization empowers the economically-active poor and small entrepreneurs by providing inclusive financial services. Beyond loans, KREDIT offers low-income clients complementary training in debt management, savings and budgeting.
