Abbas is a 37-year-old Lebanese married man, living with his wife and two children, and attending school. His wife doesn’t work so he is the main and only income source of his family. He is a brave blacksmith working in this domain for the past 12 years. Two years ago, he was able to open his own shop after making the needed savings to launch his business. Currently, he plans to strengthen his business operations by purchasing new tools and an electrical generator for his business by receiving a loan from Kiva partner Vitas s.a.l. Abbas has to develop his business to gain a higher income and improve the family’s way of living. As for his future plans, he hopes to expand his business into other areas and start to provide a new community with his competent and endowed skills.
Due to political and social challenges in Lebanon, personally identifiable attributes entrepreneurs may have been altered to protect their privacy (i.e., blurring portions of the borrower's picture, not indicating a name and location, etc.). Vitas appreciates Kiva lenders' understanding of these challenges and encourages them to continue their support for Lebanon's borrowers.
