Arlex is a hardworking man and is dedicated to his family, which is made up of his wife and their 3 children. He has earned a living through his own hard work. With a lot of effort, he has succeeded in supporting and educating his children, working difficult jobs as an employee in different fields.

However, one year ago, he decided to go out on his own, and he started his own business - a store that sells clothing and products for children and babies. The idea came out of a necessity to generate better earnings and have more time with his family. Therefore, he took advantage of the opportunity and good timing to be the only one offering these items in his city. Because of this, he has had an excellent reception in the city, as it saves his customers having to leave town to get these things. In this way, he has made enough income to pay for his household expenses during the year that his business has been in operation.

With the intention of strengthening his business and offering a greater variety to his customers, he is requesting the support of the loan to purchase supplies in bulk (clothing, toys, bottles, diapers, among others). This will allow him to improve his sales, since he will offer more alternatives to his customers, thereby increasing the profit margin that he gets from his labors.

All of this will enable him to move forward in order to fulfill his greatest desire: Arlex dreams of purchasing his own house in order to offer his family a better quality of life and guarantee his children greater well-being.

Important Information

This loan is structured on Kiva as a bullet loan, which means a single payment is required at the end of the loan term. By Colombian law, Kiva's partner Interactuar is required to offer borrowers loans with a variable interest rate that fluctuates with the market rate. Because fixed monthly payments are applied first to interest and then to principal, Interactuar is unable to predict upfront what portion of each repayment would go towards the loan principal. This creates a challenge with Kiva's system, which doesn't allow for unpredictable principal payments, and can result in some Interactuar clients appearing falsely delinquent. To remedy this, the loan has an end-of-term repayment plan on Kiva, but the borrower will continue scheduled monthly repayments to Interactuar, who will then pass along the principal amount to Kiva lenders. This means that you may see repayments made on this loan throughout the repayment term, as opposed to receiving repayment in full at the end of the loan term.
