Ana Feliz
Ana is a strong woman and a fighter who has known how to earn a living with much effort. She is the mother of 3 children whom she has brought up in the company of her husband.

She has more than 35 years' experience in the field of sewing, a job she learned from her mother and now has been converted as her main source of income. She worked in different sewing businesses, where she acquired experience and perfected her techniques. But when her children were born she made the decision to make herself independent and work from home, to be more watchful of them.

Little by little, she obtained her clients and now offers her service to third parties, for whom she makes uniforms and work clothes. She has the support of her daughters, whom she has taught the work. In addition, she has the advantage of having production throughout the year, since she has contracts for different seasons. In this manner, she has succeeded in generating sufficient resources to offer daily sustenance to her family.

The loan she is applying for is to buy bulk supplies (fabric, thread, buttons, elastic, among others). With this, she will be able to finish pending work to fulfill the clients in an agile and opportune manner, which will give way to acquiring new contracts.

Ana says that her greatest desire is to give continuity and longevity to her business, so that it will serve as an inheritance for her children and will permit them to generate resources when she cannot. Therefore, she will be able to guarantee that her children will not lack economic necessities and that they will be able to enjoy a better quality of life.

Important Information

This loan is structured on Kiva as a bullet loan, which means a single payment is required at the end of the loan term. By Colombian law, Kiva's partner Interactuar is required to offer borrowers loans with a variable interest rate that fluctuates with the market rate. Because fixed monthly payments are applied first to interest and then to principal, Interactuar is unable to predict upfront what portion of each repayment would go towards the loan principal. This creates a challenge with Kiva's system, which doesn't allow for unpredictable principal payments, and can result in some Interactuar clients appearing falsely delinquent. To remedy this, the loan has an end-of-term repayment plan on Kiva, but the borrower will continue scheduled monthly repayments to Interactuar, who will then pass along the principal amount to Kiva lenders. This means that you may see repayments made on this loan throughout the repayment term, as opposed to receiving repayment in full at the end of the loan term.
