Luz Y Vida (Cuenca) Group's story

The “Luz y Vida” loan group is made up of 7 ladies and one gentleman who live in the Monay area of the city of Cuenca. This city is bathed by four rivers, which provide a special touch, along with its accidental geography and majestic landscapes. This city has been a World Heritage Site since 1999 and its people are known for being friendly and gentle and make their best effort to get ahead with their families. They also maintain the culture and traditions created by their forefathers.

Zoila Cecilia is one of the members. She has been active for ten years and has gotten to be very good friends with all the members of this group and the loans have helped her improve her financial situation.

She is 47 years old, married, and has three children; one of her sons is married and on his own. Her next oldest studies at university and the youngest attends the local school. Her husband works in real estate and they own their home.

Zoila Cecilia has had a family business for several years and it helps with the financial situation. She also works in real estate with her husband and they work seven days a week without a set schedule. She also raises chickens, Guinea pigs, and pigs.
