Maria Mercedes, 32, is a single mother with a young son. She is originally from León, located in the western part of the country. She is known for being a hard worker and a responsible person with a desire to overcome. Unfortunately, she wasn't able to study a degree and she saw the need to work at an early age. At the present time, she is striving to offer her son a better future.
Thanks to her efforts and her desire to come out ahead, as an economic activity she sells soft drinks and drinks out of a room in her house. She works around 8 hours a day.
The loan will be used to invest in working capital and provide her business with the purchase and sale of soft drinks and natural drinks such as pineapple, passion fruit, papaya, cacao, banana and milk, so that in the near future she can obtain a better income.

Se caracteriza por ser trabajadora, responsable, con ganas de superación personal. Lamentablemente no pudo cursar una carrera y se vio en la obligación de trabajar a temprana edad. En la actualidad lucha para brindarle un futuro mejor a su hijo.
Gracia a su esfuerzo y sus ganas de salir adelante tiene por actividad económica la venta de gaseoasas y refrescso en su casa de habitacion. Ella dedica a su negocio unas 8 horas diarias El objetivo del crédito es invertir en capital de trabajo y surtir su negocio en la compra y venta cajillas y gaseosas y refrescos naturales como pina, calala, granadia, papalla, cacao, banano con leche, para que en un futuro no muy lejano pueda obtener mejores ingresos. María Mercedes agradece la ayuda que los inversionistas kiva le brindan a personas de escasos recursos y países pobre como es Nicaragua para tener un medio de trabajo digno.

Fundación Leon 2000 began operations in 1993 as the first microfinance institution to serve the western part of Nicaragua, a country which continues to be one of the poorest in the western hemisphere. Fundación Leon 2000 works to further the development of micro, small, and medium enterprises through credit services and management, applying the best credit industry practices and technical expertise. Additionally, Fundación Leon manages several business and financial education programs in the community, specifically for young entrepreneurs and at-risk youth. Fundación Leon 2000’s group of experienced and dedicated employees works in 7 offices in Leon, Chinandega, Chichigalpa, Somotillo, Jinotepe, El Sauce, and Nagarote and serves several thousand clients (the majority of whom are women).
