Originally from a village of Kampong Cham province’s Ponhea Krek district, Phat is aged 48 years and married with four children. For more than 10 years, he and his wife have been farming rice and growing cassava. To add more income, he also works for others for a fee. The current business earns them about 44,000 KHR per day to meet the family’s needs.
Phat has been with VisionFund for two cycles and he wisely and successfully used the first loan to make his living conditions better. Now he is applying for another loan of KHR 2,000,000 to buy fertilizer for his cassava and use a portion of it to spend on renovating his old house. He hopes this loan will enable him to earn more income.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
