Cecilia González S. is a single woman who very much wishes to complete her construction project. She has been unable to finish it yet, and started with a loan that her own employer provided to her. She has turned to our institution which runs a program (CONAVI), which is new and helpful to both the individual and the society as a whole. She wants to increase the height of the wall of her house, so she has more privacy. She would also like to add a floor to the patio behind the home. The amount she is looking to borrow is $950 USD.

Cecilia works in a furniture store and comments that she will repay the loan with the income from this job.

About Housing Loans

Many poor families cannot afford housing that meets their needs. When you make a housing loan on Kiva, you give people access to flexible capital to obtain or improve their homes. Better housing means better health, sanitation, and even educational outcomes for children. A house can also be much more for entrepreneurs who run businesses out of their homes. In this way, housing and small business loans on Kiva share a common purpose: to alleviate poverty and enable families to enjoy more stable lives.
