The client is a seller of spices (garlic, nutmeg, Maggy cubes, iodized salt, ground nuts, onions, bay leaves, etc.). She sets up her merchandise at her home in front of her enclosure, in an animated street. She started her business with the first capital received from her husband (at the time he was living). Later, she benefitted from a loan from the MFI Hekima. She has been in this business for 4 years. This new loan will help her to buy 15kg of garlic, 4 packages of nutmeg, 5 packages of Maggy cubes, 1 bag of salt, 10kg of ground nuts, ½ a basket of onions and lots of bay leaves. Thus, she hopes to build a house and plan for the future of her sons. In the end, she hardily thanks Hekima for the empowerment of entrepreneuring non-bankable women; during this time there are conflicts in the east of the country.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
