Living in a rural village of the Memot district, Sokhim is aged 30 years and married with three children. The main sources of family’s income for ten years are growing cassava and selling grocery items. The current business earns her about 100,000 KHR per day. However, she can save about 40,000 KHR each day after daily expenses.
Sokhim has been with VisionFund for four cycles. She completely paid back the past loans which have helped her better support her family. Now she is applying for a loan of 4,000,000 KHR to buy more grocery items to resell. She hopes to earn more income from her current business.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
