Tren is a citizen from a rural area located in the Dambae district, where rice farming is a common way to earn a living. Tren is aged 53 years and married. He has struggled to feed his three children by growing cassava and cashews for 10 years. The current business earns him about 60,000 KHR (Cambodian riels) per to meet the family’s needs.
This is the second loan for Tren with VisionFund. He completely paid back the past loan, which has helped him to better support his family. Now, he is applying for a loan. Tren is going to buy fertilizers for his farmland. He hopes to make more income from his business so as to make a better living.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
