The “GLADIOLOS DE PARCOPATA” communal bank will start its first cycle with Pro Mujer, as a part of the Villa Adela regional center. The association is made up of 8 members and is directed by a board of which Alejandra is the President. The businesses that the association members carry out vary, and among them are: blanket weaving, the sale of vegetables, artisan vicuna blankets, the sale of meat, and construction services. The loans they take out benefit small business owners, including Alejandra.

Alejandra indicates that this is the first time she is a part of Pro Mujer, joining thanks to the invitation of her brother who is a member of the institution. At the moment, she has a butcher business; this work she learned several years ago, as it was a family business. Later, when she had her own family, she decided to continue with the business independently.

The loan requested now will be used for an increase in inventory (purchase of meat) that will be acquired from the nearby communities of Ciudad de El Alto and will later be sold in her retail space. This work allows her to earn income that will help her maintain her home, as she is single and has 2 children. When asked what she likes about Pro Mujer, she says she likes the ability of the institution to offer her a means of saving.
