David
Davis is a positive and responsible young man. He is married and has children. He lives with his family in a small village. However the house in which they live is a little too small and not entirely well planned for good living. David's wife is a housewife. She is very hardworking and caring mother. David works as a carpenter in his village. He receives a good pay from his work. This income is sufficient for covering living expenses.

However David has a dream; he would like to build a new house for his family. To do this he needs money and what he earns is not sufficient to afford building a new house. His father, who works in Russia as a builder, helps him through sending money every month. In addition, David turned to Arvand and would like to receive a loan to purchase building materials to build the house. He hopes for a positive result and thanks Arvand in advance for the help.

About MDO Arvand

MDO Arvand is one of the leading microfinance institutions in Tajikistan, offering small loans to entrepreneurs to start and grow their businesses. This makes an enormous difference in a country, which is not only the poorest in Central Asia, but also home to a population where two-thirds live below the poverty line. Today, Tajikistan's economy literally depends on remittances being sent from family members working abroad in Russia because there are so few local job opportunities.

But Arvand loans have been able to make a difference and change lives. Read about some of the incredible success stories they have seen here in this Kiva blog post: Bringing hope to Tajikistan with Arvand -- one success story at a time.

About Housing Loans

Many poor families cannot afford housing that meets their needs. When you make a housing loan on Kiva, you give people access to flexible capital to obtain or improve their homes. Better housing means better health, sanitation, and even educational outcomes for children. A house can also be much more for entrepreneurs who run businesses out of their homes. In this way, housing and small business loans on Kiva share a common purpose: to alleviate poverty and enable families to enjoy more stable lives.
