Abdusalom
Abdusalom currently lives with his wife and mother. He is in the business of raising and selling goats and sheep. He had to sell his livestock because of a lack of feed. Now he wants to buy more livestock and winter feed so that he can resell them in spring for a profit. His sons work in Russia, but they send money for their wives and children to live on, so he can not ask them for support. He contacted MDO Arvand for a loan to buy livestock. This is not his first loan from Arvand. With the help of the credit this time he plans to buy a cow to develop his business. He plans to produce milk, krut (cultured milk balls) and other milk products to sell and earn income for the wellbeing of his family.

About MDO Arvand

MDO Arvand is one of the leading microfinance institutions in Tajikistan, offering small loans to entrepreneurs to start and grow their businesses. This makes an enormous difference in a country, which is not only the poorest in Central Asia, but also home to a population where two-thirds live below the poverty line. Today, Tajikistan's economy literally depends on remittances being sent from family members working abroad in Russia because there are so few local job opportunities.

But Arvand loans have been able to make a difference and change lives. Read about some of the incredible success stories they have seen here in this Kiva blog post: Bringing hope to Tajikistan with Arvand -- one success story at a time.
