Help us reach more people in 2016!

Dear Kiva Lender,

Kiva facilitates loans to more than 4,000 borrowers every week, but since 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans we rely on donations from supporters like you to continue this important work. If every Kiva lender seeing this banner pitched in $25 for our Donation Drive, we'd hit our goal of $600,000 by Dec 31! Thanks for your continuing partnership in making the world a fairer place.

In service, Premal Shah, President,

More information about this loan

This loan is part of TRM’s effort to reach microentrepreneurs in East Timor, a region suffering from a deeply underdeveloped financial sector. Since its independence in 2002, East Timor has struggled with internal tensions which led to the quasi disappearance of its financial system. As of 2012, TRM is one of only two MFIs operating in East Timor trying to respond to the needs of thousands of microentrepreneurs. This loan provides underserved borrowers with critical capital to sustain their existing businesses or to improve their living conditions.

Information about TRM

The organization provides credit, savings and micro-insurance services to more than 7,000 clients. Its goal is to extend its reach into even more remote regions through branchless banking services.
