Fatima is a talented 41-year-old woman who owns her own business producing "faux bijoux," or costume jewelery and accessories for women. Fatima lives in a small village close to Nabatieh in Southern Lebanon and she makes and sells these beautiful and popular products herself.

Women throughout the village know Fatima for her work, and much of her business comes from friends and relatives who pass on the word about her stylish jewelery products to others. She is member of a solidarity lending group called "Al Araada," which in Arabic means "The Will."

Indeed Fatima has a very strong will, and she is determined to succeed in her business. In order to purchase new materials which will help her diversify the jewelery she makes, Fatima has requested a loan of US$ 300. Fatima is confident that this capital will enable her to expand her business, and she will repay her loan over a period of four months. This is the first loan Fatima has requested from Al Majmoua.
