Sarah is married with three children who all go to school. She also takes care of her niece. She has a beauty salon, a business that she has been doing for 18 years. She has applied for a loan of 800,000 Ugandan shillings from MCDT-SACCO to buy more weaves, braids and cream relaxers.
She generates additional income by selling used clothes and hiring out her motorcycle. She works at the market every week and sells on a retail basis. Her major business challenges include seasonality and ever increasing prices of cosmetics in Uganda. She aspires to own a fully-stocked beauty salon and also to buy a plot of land and build her own house. She resides in a rented house and the family has access to electricity, but not to piped water. Her monthly expenses include school fees and rent.
