Deborah is single with three children. Two of her children go to school. She takes care of additional family members (old parents). She operates a pub in a shop that she rents. She sells her goods to all kinds of people on a retail basis. She has been in this business for 30 years. She works seven days a week.
Deborah has applied for a loan of Uganda shillings 2,700,000 from MCDT-SACCO to buy local gin, local brew, crates of beer and soda. She is aspiring to own a fully stocked pub and also to build rental houses. She resides in her own house and the family has access to electricity and piped water. Her monthly expenses includes school fees and rent for the shop.
