A loan of $850 helped to pay her tuition fees, and to buy workbooks and other study materials to support her course work.

Kanha's story

Kanha is 23 years old and single. She lives with her parents and siblings, in Prey Veng province. In this new academic year, she is a year-three student. She is majoring in accounting, at a local institute. At the same time, Kanha works as a cashier, employed by the same institute at which she is studying. This job provides the income that covers Kanha's tuition and other educational costs.

Due to a shortage of money, Kanha would like to borrow a Khmer student loan from HKL. She will use the loan to pay her tuition fees, and to buy workbooks and other study materials to support her course work. Kanha is grateful that the support of Kiva lenders will allow her to cover the cost of educational fees, and thus obtain her professional degree. After graduation, Kanha will be able to continue striving to fulfill her great ambition: to be a successful professional accountant and support her family. Kanha was photographed with her mother, standing next to their piggeries.
