Nhep is 33 years old and married. Nhep and his wife live separately due to unavoidable family circumstances. He currently lives with his mother in the remote area of Baray, Kampong Thom province. Nhep is engaged in farming rice and providing motor taxi services to earn a living. He is now the only breadwinner of the family.
He is requesting a loan from HKL and Kiva lenders, so that he can buy a new motorcycle taxi. The one he has is almost 10 years old and in need of costly repairs. This will enable him to continue working and generating income for his family. Nhep relies on the goodwill of the lenders and will be grateful to them for their help in lending the needed amount of the loan.
Hattha Kaksekar Limited is one of the largest and most successful microfinance institutions (MFIs) in Cambodia. The organization provides microfinance services to the poor, particularly women, in urban and rural areas. Kiva lenders’ funds will be used to expand the outreach of HKL’s financial services to a greater number of clients in rural areas of Cambodia.
