Lucky Group
In this Group: Gemma, Erna, Claire
Gemma is the featured borrower of Lucky group. She got together with the other group members to acquire a loan from Kiva partner Al Majmoua because they have always been friends since they left their hometown in the Philippines to work in order to provide for their families with the necessary living needs.

Gemma is a 41-year-old widowed mother of five children, whom she sacrifices her living for their education and living. She is a hard worker who puts so much effort in developing her children's living and education. Her acquired loan will be invested in paying for her children's necessary school fees. She is their sole breadwinner since her husband passed away. To make sure that they will get an education, she works hard to provide for them.

Gemma is working as a housekeeper and hopes that one day she can go back to the Philippines and start her own business next to her beloved children.

Gemma is the lady at the left side of the picture with blue top. As for the other group members, Erna is in the middle, and Claire is the first from the right.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
