Orlando es un joven campesino de 23 años de edad, padre de un hijo de 2 años y vive en unión libre con su compañera sentimental. Durante su vida productiva obtuvo experiencia laboral, trabajando como aserrador por 4 años, pero con el ánimo de generar recursos de manera independiente decidió retirarse de su empleo y así prestar el servicio para lo cual toma en arriendo una motosierra; de esta manera ha logrado generar los recursos económicos suficientes para solventar las necesidades de su familia. El cliente es un joven trabajador, dinámico y muy responsable, ha logrado sobrepasar diversos desafíos que se presentan especialmente por falta de capital de trabajo; sin embargo, siempre va buscando nuevas alternativas que le ayuden a salir adelante; es por ello que se motiva a solicitar el crédito con el que comprará una motosierra, para poder continuar con su labor y generar un margen de utilidades más alto, ya que no tendrá que gastar dinero pagando el arriendo de la máquina, esto le dará la libertad para hacer todo tipo de trabajos en los diferentes lugares de la región, aumentando sus ventas y los ingresos que percibe. This loan is structured on Kiva as a bullet loan, which means a single payment is required at the end of the loan term. By Colombian law, Kiva's partner Interactuar is required to offer borrowers loans with a variable interest rate that fluctuates with the market rate. Because fixed monthly payments are applied first to interest and then to principal, Interactuar is unable to predict upfront what portion of each repayment would go towards the loan principal. This creates a challenge with Kiva's system, which doesn't allow for unpredictable principal payments, and can result in some Interactuar clients appearing falsely delinquent. To remedy this, the loan has an end-of-term repayment plan on Kiva, but the borrower will continue scheduled monthly repayments to Interactuar, who will then pass along the principal amount to Kiva lenders. This means that you may see repayments made on this loan throughout the repayment term, as opposed to receiving repayment in full at the end of the loan term.
