A loan of $725 helped to stock her food business and set up a corner grocery.

Teodora's story

Teodora, 29, lives in La Matanza with her three children. The people of this area earn their living from farming, livestock-rearing and other small businesses.

Teodora operates a business selling beer and a local brew called chicha de jora. She also sells farm animals that she raises in a yard behind her house. She is applying for a 2,000 new soles loan, part of which she will use to buy supplies to make chicha and the rest to open a corner grocery. The investment will allow her to carve out a pleasant space where she can serve her customers and grow her business. The extra income she expects will help to better support her family.
